Salute to the bakers

It is public holiday. How do I spend my am session? I bake! This intension comes after hundreds of time watching BBC Lifestyle - Eric Lanlard, Great British Bake Off, Rachel Khoo, Rachel Allen. Bake looks very easy! I did quick look on some websites to get the recipe. It looks very tempting! Not wasting more time on watching, yesterday, I was determined to get all those equipments, and goods to bake cream puff with custard.

This morning, I have found another recipe but with whipped cream. Another easy peasy recipe. I starts baking at 10 am.. and its done at 1pm. What???

I did two fillings; custard and whipped cream.

What makes baking is tough?
  • I cannot apply my agak-agak measurement. When it states 60g, it must be 60g. Do not trust table spoon, cups...
  • I tend to overdone the batter. Well, when I cook the main dish, the more time I cook them the better its taste. Big NO for desserts. yes for my whipped cream, i did over done it. due to that, it splits between the cream and water. now, it looks like an ice cream! For my custard filling, when we over cooked it like few seconds only, it will turn into oily batter. at this level, fridge is may savior. let everything to cool down and set.
  • Which bake pan is suitable? i learnt my lesson. if i already have the non sticky pan, never layer it with additional butter to avoid the puff from stick onto the pan. See the name.. it is NON-STICKY pan! just trust the pan. this additional butter will makes the puffs taste very oily. - another failure here!
I salute to those who knows how to bake and manage to produce such a yummy dessert. This failure makes me appreciate those foods sell by the bakery. It is not easy peasy as I can see. 

My advice, If you are not the dessert person, u dont know how to bake, you are stubborn and hard to follow the rules like me, but sometimes u do want to have dessert, just get it from the bakery, or you can find any online bakery. Give them cash, u get your desserts.

Now, I should just focus on main dishes because that is my specialty. Cook with heart.

  1. Roti capati di goreng dulu (tanpa minyak) – 2 keping
  2. Layer roti pertama – lapiskan dengan sos spaghetti traditional Kimball
  3. Layer kedua – macam buat pizza biasa

Healthy Hawaiian Chicken Sausage Pizza Roti Capati Recipe

I am so excited to share this recipe SEBAB? when I uploaded the picture above, ramai yang like. Nak memasak pizza ni senang je. It is inspired by

“nak makan pizza tapi tak nak too much carb”

.

Instead of white bread, I am chosing roti capati ni sebab ia kaya dengan wheat dan serat serta ianya nipis. This is a personal pizza size. I can finish it kejap je.

 

Bahan-bahan:

1 keping roti capati (boleh dapatkan yang frozen di hypermarket)

1 1/2 sudu kuah spaghetti traditional Kimball

1 sosej ayam/lembu Ayamas (hiris)

1 hiris nenas dalam tin (dipotong)

hirisan keju mozarella

sedikit dried oregano

*boleh tambah mushroom, capsicum, bombay onion

 

Cara memasak:

  1. Letakkan roti capati atas dulang pembakar. (Kalau nak cepat masak, panaskan dahulu dalam kuali selama 1-2 minit untuk 1 side sahaja. Kemudian baru letak atas dulang pembakar)
  2. Tekan keliling hujung roti capati supaya nipis.
  3. Aturkan cheese pada hujung roti. Kemudian gulung/lipat. Tekan pada penyambung lipatan.
  4. Ratakan kuah spaghetti ke atas roti.
  5. Susun sosej, nenas dan….CHEESE!!!! sampai menutupi.
  6. Seterusnya taburkan sedikit dried oregano.
  7. Bakar dalam oven selama 10-15 minit pada suhu 180 darjah celcius dengan heat from top and bottom.
  8. Sambung membakar selama 3-4 minit dengan heat from Top (untuk dapatkan warna perang).

Kos bahan-bahan:

1 keping roti capati (boleh dapatkan yang frozen di hypermarket) = RM0.50

1 1/2 sudu kuah spaghetti traditional Kimball = RM0.50

1 sosej ayam Ayamas (hiris) = RM0.40

1 hiris nenas dalam tin (dipotong) = RM0.45

hirisan keju mozarella = RM2.00

sedikit dried oregano = RM0.30

Total: RM4.15

TETAPI!

janganlah anda compare harga ni dengan harga yang ditetapkan oleh peniaga. Modal bahan-bahan memang nampak macam murah. Tetapi… kos pekerja, kos bahan api, kos elektrik (commercial rate adalah tinggi), kos air, kos permulaan peti ais, kos sewa premis… banyak hidden cost yang peniaga terpaksa tanggung. that is why la janganlah berkira sangat untuk keluarkan duit pada servis makanan dan servis lain-lain. Kalau nak jimat… cari resipi dalam blog ni dan masak sendiri. Keep healthy okay!

Resipi Mee Goreng Mamak Penang Style

Bahan-Bahan:
1 ulas bawang putih
1/2 ulas bawang merah
1 1/2 sudu pes cili Adabi
1/2 sudu teh serbuk jintan manis
1 sudu teh kicap mee Tamin
1 sudu teh sos tiram Adabi
1 keping asam keping
5 ekor udang
1/4 peket mee basah
1 buku tauhu
1 butir telur
1/2 sudu teh garam
250ml air
5 sudu minyak masak

Cara-cara:
  1. Panaskan kuali dengan minyak masak pada api yang sederhana. Goreng tauhu sehingga kuning keemasan. Angkat dan hiriskan (better biar sejuk sebelum dihiris).
  2. Titikkan bawang putih (tekan dengan bahagian tepi pisau dan telapak tangan) sehingga pecah/berderai.
  3. Hiriskan bawang merah secara halus memanjang (potong tumis)
  4. Tumis bawang putih dan bawang merah
  5. Bancuhkan pes cili, serbuk jintan manis, kicap mee, sos tiram dengan 150ml air.
  6. Setelah bawang putih dan bawang merah berwarna kuning keemasan, masukkan campuran bahan-bahan tadi (5)
  7. Masukkan asam keping. Biar 1 minit.
  8. Masukkan udang yang telah dibersihkan.
  9. Biar sehingga cili masak.
  10. Setelah kering sedikit (dah pecah minyak), tambahkan 100ml air (jika perlu). Biar seketika (2 minit).
  11. Masukkan garam.
  12. Masukkan 1/2 buku tauhu. Kacau sehingga sebati.
  13. Masukkan mee (dibilas terlebih dahulu). Kacau lagi.
  14. Masukkan telur. Biar sebentar, kemudian kacau sehingga kering. Kuatkan api jika perlu.
  15. Sedia untuk dihidang. Boleh perah sehiris limau purut/nipis jika perlu. Hiaskan dengan lebihan tauhu tadi.

Resipi Mudah: Ketam Masak Kunyit

This is one of my favorite-tak-pernah-jemu cuisine all the time. The recipe is inherited from my mum. The ingredients and way to cooks are very simple! Percayalah!

Bahan2:

  1. Ketam (4-6 ekor)
  2. 1 Biji Bawang besar dipotong bulat
  3. Seulas bawang putih dititik
  4. 1 Tangkai Cili merah
  5. 10 tangkai cili padi
  6. Segelas Air asam jawa
  7. Sedikit Garam
  8. Sedikit Serbuk kunyit

Cara memasak

Bersihkan ketam. Campurkan semua bahan2 di atas ke dalam 1 bekas (kecuali air asam jawa).
Panaskan minyak dalam kuali. Setelah minyak panas, tuangkan kesemua bahan2 tadi. Biar selama 2 minit, masukkan air asam jawa.
Kacau pelan2 kemudian biar sampai pecah minyak/naik bau.
Dah sedia untuk dihidang dan dimakan.

Cold Storage: Favorite Shop to get Fresh Fruit and Vegetables

I love to eat fruit – including cherry tomato. I have found the ‘x-factor’ of this shop last year because it’s hard to find fresh cherry tomato around Bangi or Putrajaya.

This is the ‘must buy’ product for every week.

kebetulan… hari tu ada processed nangka or jackfruit. Very sweet!
For a un-married person like me, I love to get fruit or stuffs like this because of the ease and this is the amount that I suppose to take. But this is not suitable for big family for example because the price is higher than you buy a whole jackfruit and cut by yourself.
Another reason that I love to buy goods from Cold Storage is……

Saturday = Cooking Day!!!

Saturday and Sunday are the day to improve my cooking skills. Since I am ala2 wanita.. eh perempuan bekerjaya merangkap student dan tinggal sendiri lagi bujang, tak sempat nk masak during weekdays. Which I love to masak2. Pagi2 td celik je mata, tiba2 teringat fish stick ala2 fish and chip. Makan dengan sos tomato + mayonese. Perghhh sedapnye. (Meleleh ayaq liuq basi).. slurrppp. Selepas dah buat apa yg patut ditambah dengan perut yg berbunyi2, dengan segera menuju ke LIDL (sebutannya LIDDEL) yang berada sejauh 3 minit berjalan dr rumah. Alaaa mcm mini market kat Malaysia. Grab grab grab barang2… p la que kat counter. Then tergerak hati utk baca ingredient Mayo tu. ttbe ternampak perkataan Vinegar d’alcohol. T___T berlari la letak blk brg tu. mayo laen pon sama. then check ketchup (brand Heinz)..xde. since brand ni ada kat malaysia, xheran la kan. balik rumah, baru perasan tulisannya keciiiikkkk je ingredient. and ada benda yg sama jugak. sekian. selamat tinggal ketchup. “dipersilakan kamu ke tong sampah”

eden pon memasak la fish fillet tu dengan hati yg lara tanpa sos. tp diganti dengan jus perahan lemon asli. sedapppp. separuh dah dimandikan ke ikan tu, lg separuh nak buat apa? hah apa lagi, teringat posting si cantik lagi slumber, Hanis Zalikha pasal jus lemon, dengan berbangganya jus lemon suam disediakan segelas.

I took about 2 hours to finish this drink. sebab tekak rasa perit kalu minum byk sekali gus. It is really refreshing after finished drink this glass of ‘happy juice’. I will definitely make another glass tomorrow and will use kulit lemon as scrub for my face. “Nyah kau bintik hitam”
